WHINING NOISE FROM ENGINE!

ive got a 206cc 2.litre SE.
its got 7000 on the clock and when i accelerate in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, i get a whining noise which is slowly developing into a "rattle"....
does anyone have any suggestions? ive only had the car 2 days !

Sounds like you could have one of three common issues:

1) Plastic engine cover is loose and vibrating (very common)
2) Crack in your engine manifold (Common)
3) Broken catalytic convertor (not as common).

My money's on number 1 mate

i've noticed i now have number 1 just 2 weeks after having number 2 fixed :rolleyes:

worst thing is it means i need to take it to the zoo

Annoying isn't it!!

I took mine in with the engine cover problem (without telling them what the problem was) and the just updated my ECU...made no difference.
So i took the cover off.....

Then the catalytic convertor died....so they fixed that for me...

Now i am getting fed up with my car and I am looking at getting a Type-R instead......
