Hi, just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this...

Ever since I have had the car (3 months now)I have noticed that it tends to put out a fair bit of smoke while standing a lights etc. At first with the cold weather I thought it was just a bit of 'steam' or whatever...

Aware that it could be burning oil, I called up my dealer who said that it was natural for a new car to burn little oil. Fair enough (but don't know if that is actually true!)

Anyway, yesterday I parked up and turned the engine off and it must have taken me about 3 minutes to gather my things from the 'back seats'.... but while walking around to the boot I saw gentle fuming from the exhaust what could only be described as 'light smoke'.

Is this normal? I am used to driving big diesels you see and ths is my first petrol car. I have also noticed 'oil' residue at the end of the exhaust pipe.

Does it need to see the doctor or just wait for the next service?

Thanks.

I get the same and was told it is 'steam'. Peugeot have had the car back in for the fourth time since I had it (this time for a week) and it is still the same. To be honest, if you get out and examine the 'smoke' it doesnt smell of burning and feels more like steam but I'm still not convinced it's right ....

I have solved your problem.

The petrol is only actually used to heat the water as the car is steam driven.

To hide this old technology Peugeot have fitted a self filling water system. This is why we get water inside the car as the water collection system overflows.

I understand the Stephenson concept, however, the car doesn't exactly go like a Rocket (infact I'm beginning to suspect his train was actually faster and more reliable).
