With my remote it's the same.
For unlocking it with the remote i must be very close. Locking the car (&tracking it) works from a further distance so it seems. I thought it was a safety measure so you wouldn't unlock your car by mistake?

My old 206 I could sit in my bedroom and open my car (was at the back of the house)
My cc - I can stand in the spamspam which is at the front of the house and open it.
(It isn't multiplex if that counts - I know the keyfob is different)

To see whether it is different for multiplex vs non multiplex cars i think maybve i'd better see if i can unlock MY car from your bedroom Julia! My old 206 I could sit in my bedroom and open my car (was at the back of the house)

i think your right, because i connect an after market head unit using the +VAN as an accessory, at night on the other side of the carpark when i press unlock i can see my system LEDs power up and start pumping, so i know that it recieve the signal from the key press but it wont unlock until i practically standing next to the car. With my remote it's the same.

Why would your car be parked outside julia's bedroom?
