Today I was looking at the fantastic work I did in cleaning the car yesturday, however, when I went out this afternoon to the Postoffice and got back to the car, I noticed something very bad!.

On the bonnet I noticed a cycler formation of light stratches going across the bonnet which you can only really see if the light catches it!.
I'm guessing this is from Peugeot after they cleaned it before giving the car to me. I certainly didn't do It

What do you lot think I should do? The car is less then one week old.

1. Ring them up and tell them to replace the whole bonnet
2. Ignore it, it might go away
3. repair it my self using some kind of special treatment??

I'm thinking option 1!

Am I too late to mention this to them (thats what I'm worried about).

Chris.

it's never tooo late to report a fault with your CC, you must have missed it with all the excitement of picking up the CC :D

they may be able to polish it out without replacing the entire bonnet but tell them as soon as you can, then they can't blame you :D

Trouble is its very much your word against theirs and if its black, your gonna get whats called micro scatches that only reflect in strong sunlight no matter what you do to stop them. Black is one of those colours.

I have a problem with my 14 week old black SLK. I started noticing micro scatches in strong sunlight on all panels and suspected the mercedes curtousy wash was responsible after warranty work. They denied liability but agreed to offer £50 towards sorting it out.

I've been quoted £250 to compound the scratches from the paintwork and re-apply the diamond brite protective clear finish.

If the scratches are light, to be honest you can sort the problem out yourself fairly easily with the right tools.

You can eradicate most minor scratches with car polish and an electric polish buffer. If there are a few slightly deeper scratches you may have to use the trade tool, rub in a little T-Cut on a cloth onto the scratches with a circular motion then polish off until the scratches have disappeared.
Be prepared for scratches to return if its a black Pug though.

Cheers for the advice.

I think I'll just go back to the Dealers and start demanding.
At least try to get something out of them.

OK,

So Peugeot picked up the car yesturday from where I work and took it to there garage to repair the scratches.

Very nice of them to pick it up and deliver it back again with the scatches still there and to add an insult to injury I now have chipped paint work on the bonnet on top of the scratches!

What should I do!! :yikes:

/update

I just spoke to them again and they said they will respray the hole bonnet. Is this a good thing?

OK the scratches and the chips in the paint work wont be there anymore but what about the colour match to the rest of the body work?

Being 100% honest. If you bought the car in to my garage for part exchange, it would be noticed that the bonnect had been painted and was not original. This may affect the cars value. However if you are not happy with the visual appearance of the bonnet painting is the only way foward. As for colour match it all depends on the skill of the garage and how much effort they put in.

As I said before, this car is brand new and should be in A1 condition from when I first pick the car up. It wasn't.
Scratches followed by a chip on the bonnet doesn't count as A1 condition in my book or anybody elses, i'm sure.

Once they have resprayed the Bonnet and it turns out they did a 'crapy job' I will simply ask for either a new bonnet, new car or a huge discount of some description to make me forget it all (one of those GPS things might be nice  ) I am perfectly within my rights :?:

This is just another fine example of a new owner being picky and I love it! :D

You know guys, you really wouldn't notice the scratches if your cc had a nice layer of dirt on it!!
