Parking with the top down

Being a new 206CC owner I just wondered how other people feel about leaving the car parked with the top down. It makes me feel quite anxious about the security aspect, despite everything valuable being locked in the glove compartment and boot. Anyone do it

i only leave it topless where i can see it and shout to anyone getting tooo close

I tested the deadlocks whilst the roof was down - they dont work!

All that happens is the door opens and the alarm goes off!

i don't think you deadlocked it right, mine works on a pre-multiplexing 'Y' reg CC

I was told by one of the dealers that it doesnt matter how you lock it - deadlocks are auto? Although i do hear a second click if i hit the lock button shortly after locking the car - so thats what i always do! How do you deadlock yours? (Waits for Greg S to do the cadburys creme egg gag) :rolleyes:

i've got 2 buttons on my keyfob, the one with the peugeot lion on it locks it (indicators come on for 5 secs) then the smaller one is then pressed which arms the alarm AND deadlocks (indicators come on again for 5 secs)

As luck may have it i have just been reading the added security thread, which basically seems to say:
Non multiplex 1st press locks, 2nd press deadlocks
Multiplex 1st press locks, 2nd press turns the deadlocks off

So it seems by pressing the button twice i have been DEACTIVATING my deadlocks since september!

i don't have a problem leaving it with the roof down as long as it is somewhere busy.

if i am going be be away for a while i put the windows up.

I never leave my car with the roof down - even at home on my drive. It's my pride and joy so I am not happy taking any risks with it.

A little while back I left my CC with the top down and windows up outside a chippy I was in. A white van drove past it and the passenger chucked a cup of tomato soup at the car whilst I was wathcing. Luckily it hit the corner of the car, caused no damage and only a few drops of soup got onto the leather which I wiped off straight away.

What annoyed me is that I didn't get the company name on the side of the van. I was so surprised when it happened that I don't think I realised what was going on. I still kick myself for not looking at the van more closely!

I haven't learned though - left my CC with the top down in several places this weekend, mainly shop car parks, and it's been fine!
