Apparently Kenwood units work - check with the dealer first though
At the 02 motor show i was given a card by a block at the sony stand who said he worked for MES and that their adaptor will:
1. Sort out the permanent/ignition supply reversal
2. Adapt for the head up display
3. Act as an adaptor for the remote control
All this for any make of car to the new sony head units - wish i could find his card as i keep posting this but no-one has posted back to say they had any luck, and i could do with contacting them myself!

I'm pretty sure that no units work with the Pug display, especially on multiplex systems. Sony are the most likely ones to work. Kenwood adapters are in development but will probably only display a welcome message - not any useful info.
