I was also told that it was due to 'dirt' from the road.
The dealer slipped up and told me it was due to the 'material' in the brake pads that has replaced the more dangerous substance asbestos.
I therefore suggested that because the nature of the problem was based on the workmanship of the parts, the warranty should cover the work to repair the problem, whether the fix could be permanent or not.
Of course they disagreed.... I then contacted head office. They took some pursuading too.
After what the dealership said (by the way I have no problem with the dealership - they were just trying their best to stick to the rules) I feel that it is obvious that the parts used in the build are prone to this problem.
If I had known this before hand I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR. You don't expect brakes on a new car to make any noise. My last 3 new cars have been peugeots and they never made any noise like this. By the time I traded them in I had travelled around 38,000 in each and there was never any noise.
It seems strange that there would be noise on this car after just weeks.

Its not the pads!! Pug monkeys are talking crap as usual
Peugeot haven't bother to grease the mechanical part of the brakes on the outside of the pads (my pug had no grease at all!)
Mine used to squeak all the time, however I had them greased and now wonderfully quiet.
Just ask them to put some decent copper grease on them and don't take no for an answer!

I've just started getting the squeaky brake syndrome myself, and it's really beginning to get on my nerves, especially when I had the roof down last weekend.
In the old days, when disc brakes started to squeak you could fit 'anti-squeal shims', which when used with copper grease stopped the disc pad rubbing against the brake cylinder. Does anyone know if they are factory fitted as standard, or are availible as an aftermarket purchase?
Also, can you buy non-standard pads, and what is the warranty situation if you have them fitted?
Cheers,
Dave T

The only effect on warranty should be that the pads aren't covered, although they may refuse to cover the discs as well.

My new CC is squeaking too. (30 days old!)
I have Citroen too
, and I had same problem with squeaking brakes. Of course service couldn't fix it on several occasions so I decided I had enough. Answer: I bought Lockheed pads and change them myself. (that was 1 year ago). Silence since.
I'll call my dealer on monday and give them 1 chance to fix this. If they fail, I know what's next.

I have not had my cc for long, but have been squeal free for over 1,000 milesMy Dealer has tried copper grease twice, different types supposedly, but it only lasted a week (about 200 miles) before the brakes started squealling again.
How long has yours been squeal free for Cotswolds?

I went to my dealer today (I had some problems with my rear window) and I told them that my brakes squeak. Without any other question or even testing my car they replaced front pads (Bosch with Citroen logo) with Ferodo (Peugeot logo). My (very friendly) dealer told me that Peugeot changed the supplier of the pads and since then they have problems with squeaking. And the change was free (under warranty).
