Is there a boot release lever near the driver's seat that I haven't found?

Even my 91 Orion had one! And it's annoying to have to get out and use the key (usually in the rain) when my husband wants to put his junk in the boot. Or am I just being lazy?

Oh, and is it usually locked? I have to unlock it, or is that 'cos I always use the central locking button?

Thanks

nope, no quick release lever for the boot i'm afraid, just the key to open

Yep it locks with the central locking but doesn't open with it.

Cheers

the reason for only bveing able to open the boot by key is for security.

The idea is that you can lock your valuables in the boot when you leave the car with the roof down. Its a normal setup for soft tops.

Whatever you do, don't get out of the car unlock the boot, leave it open and put the roof down. I did as I was cleaning the car and the whole thing is crumpled and scratched. I'm devastated. I've had lots of other problems with the car and would have thought there was some kinda failsafe to stop the roof from being opened when the boot is open but clearly there isn't.

ther is , in the form of a microswitch on the boot catch , BUT my switch has stuck a few times meaning that the system sees the boot closed when it isn't OUCH . Check yours . Best way is to lock the car as normal , then try to open the boot with the key without unlocking the central locking , if the alarm doesn't go off your switch is stuck.

if it is stuck DONT fix it take it to pug and get repairs done under warranty citing a failed interlock as the cause.

Um, not wanting to seem too harsh on you, but how the HELL did you manage this? i have a mental picture of you swinging the boot fully open, then walking round the front of the car and trying to put the roof down! PLEASE tell me this isnt the case? If it is, then surely 'common sense' is the failsafe system? ;)

Sorry to hear about the damage by the way, cant you just tell pug that the boot suddenly flew open mid roof operation?
