Yes I know, non alloy wheels look crap and are crap and alloys are on the shopping list but has anyone else without alloys had problems with the trims constantly commiting suicide :?: :?:

It's only on the front wheels and starts with them buckling out an inch or so and I have to keep pushing them back on. Last night I didn't notice the offside had started it's games again and when I got to destination sadly the trim had parted company with car

Am I just cursed :?: Car now looks like something out of the Blues Brothers.

How much should I expect to pay for basic but smart alloys :?:

I can sympathise. I've had these problems on various cars many years ago, either the actual wheel rims were damaged or the retention clips were too weak to hold the trims properly, sometimes this could be rectified by bending out the clip springs to make them grip and hold better.

basic but smart alloys..........

well i'd say go for at least 16s cause 15s do look too small.

Wheel and tyre packages for 16s start from about 500 quid :D

want me to pick out a nice set of alloys for ya? ;)

This happened to me last Sunday because when I recently bought a new tyre the tyre people took the cable ties off the trim. I can't live without it so am having the alloys I purchased from Erm a few weeks ago fitted on Saturday morning.

Answer is cable ties until such time you can get alloys.

I agree with Erm though DON'T get 15's get 16's at least.

Thanks for the advice. Cable ties is what it may have to be as new house is eatin all my money :(

Erm, you are welcome to but only if you take Credit Cards 'cos thats wot'd be paying for them :)

The monkeymen just quoted me £1100 for a set of the standard 2.0 se alloys + VAT :yikes:

Jonny,

£1100 no way! I am sure the wheels are £400 and my dealership quoted me £116 for the tyres. By my reckoning that comes to £864.

I would query that with them.

P.S. Watch out for anyone on this site buying new 3rd party alloys. That is how I got mine bought the ones Erm took off his.

Remember seeing Malcolms A. Blue at Drayton Manor. He had Oz Volcanos that looked very nice. Can't remember his owner no. but you can look at the wheels at:

Owner 80 has Superleggeras and they also look very nice.

Hubcaps!!

I think even Erm would agree with me that the "Hubcaps" look better than the alloys which come with the 1.6 which is why I didn't initially bother. Wish I had taken the plunge and got 2.0 alloys when I got the car although money was an issue and I wanted a private plate and leather seats so had to cut me cloth.

You see there is always a good reason why a person doesn't have alloys!!

Crawley Down Pug just quoted £100 a corner inc. vat for Ouragons which he informed are identical to Nimrods? True anyone? cos that's cheap!

But the famous 'get what you pay for' springs to mind.

yes yes, hubcabs :yuck: however the amount of scratches that me and the other half have managed to put on the steel wheels makes me glad I've not had alloys so far.

Ouragons/Nimrods same wheels so just add £464 for tyres if you get them from Pug.

I agree about scratches my "Hubcaps" are scratched to f**k! Hopefully I will be more careful after Saturday when alloys go on. Got chrome hoops to put on aswell so weekend is going to be good!! Just got to pray for nice weather!
