After searching around for a new Peugeot 206cc i spoke to a lot of people but something really interested, i was speaking to a dealer about imports and they told me that if you brought the SE 2.0 from Malta it is the same spec exactly as the UK but only the warrenty is different, does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks

It seems as though you get a 2 year manufacturer's warranty on EU imports. On UK-sourced cars, you get a 1 year manufactuere's and 2 year dealer warranty.
If you want a 3rd (or subsequent) year on your import, it'll cost you an extra few hundred.

I pay strict attention to which country my import is coming from.
The slk I bought recently came from a Belgium dealer. Since both Belgium an the UK are relatively similar in road infrastructure an climate I was told the car should be set up more or less the same as one destined for the UK.
I was told however to watch out for slk's imported from other countries such as Spain, Portugal and even South Africa where roads are not as smooth so the suspension set up can be vastly different.
Even though my car came from Belgium, I still had to ask UK mercedes dealer to change the alarm setting on the car from Belgium setting to UK. Its cos the Belgium alarm setting would go off as an extra precaution if the door was opened after leaving it unlocked for more than a minute.
If importing away from similar EU countries, to say Malta, I would be inclined to get in writing that the car is set up to UK specifications, that way if any changes are necessary, you can approach the importer to help pay for the changes.

Mine came via Spain - doesn't seem any different to a UK-sourced model. The faults are all the same, at least

If bought in the EU, the warranty will be EU-wide. Otherwise, the warranty is only valid in the country you buy the car in. Everything else will be the same though - as long as it's UK spec (not just RHD).

This sounds suspiciously like Micronet Showrooms -- see sticky threads at the top of this forum.
If not, can you let us know who the UK broker is? Might be wortwhile google group-ing on uk.rec.cars.imports for their name to see if there are any horror stories.

Mine was advertised as UK spec but I was told it wasn't quite so by the UK mercedes dealer who changed my alarm settings from Belgium to the UK and took off an ESP chrome badge which was specific to Belgium only. Apart from that I think everything else is now in line with UK specifications. If bought in the EU, the warranty will be EU-wide. I bought my cc from Micronet, they are indeed a bunch of b:censored:s.
However nothing seriously wrong with my cc (other than squeaky brakes, little bit of clutch drag and rear lights full of condensation!)
They imported my cc from a pug dealer in Osteend, Belgium (excuse spelling if that's wrong). I would recommend that you contact the dealer directly and cut the middleman out!!
Why pay Micronet if you don't have to???

Indeed -- the answer is to import direct from the dealer. I used Calais Nord Automobiles in Calais, but others have used Peugeot Casino Karussell in Ostend, Internet Car Sales in the Netherlands somewhere or Netherlands Car Traders.
Full list of dealers for all major manufacturers can be found at http://www.truro.swinternet.co.uk. Some of the phone numbers are out of date, but once you have a dealer name you can look them up with Google or something.
PS: If you ever want to buy a Subaru, I can recommend Gertjan van der Velde in The Netherlands
