So this is the result of my first warranty visit today*

Roof seals. Replaced (had been on order in preparation - most un-monkey-like). Can't open roof for 24 hours.

Noise @ 2800rpm. Surprise, surprise, it was the manifold - despite the service manager insisting this would be unlikely. Part on order for next visit in a coupla weeks.

Brakes. Steam-cleaned. Hrmph!

Cut-outs. No fault found. They haven't done a software download, despite me telling them that the ECU is unlikely to report a fault and a download seems to fix it.

*At last! It's registered on the UK database!

Brakes. What a surprise. No :censored: difference.

Cut-outs. When I got there I was told they had done a download. He said they hadn't over the phone because he hadn't seen the "second sheet."

I'm not sure about my engine manifold...
what sort of noise do you get, and how loud is it?? (silly questions!)

Sounds like a hole in the exhaust (funnily enough) when the engine's under load and at around 2800rpm. It's not apparent when you just rev the engine.

Cut-outs. Still happening. Now there's a surprise.

I see that Ford have admitted they've got a fault on the Focus (except that theirs is at high speed). I wonder when Pug are going to do the same. Maybe only when enough people have spoken to Watchdog...

You take it in to see the nice monkey who says "Nah, it's unlikely to be the manifold" when you drop it off and then says "Yep, it's the manifold - I've ordered one for you" when you pick it up again. :P

Mine won't be ready until tomorrow - running behind as 'some technicians have failed to turn up'

Must be. Super-duper monkeys, perhaps. Admittedly, it would have been a whole lot more amusing if he'd said "Some monkeys have failed to turn up" :D

Well they've replaced the manifold. I'm going to reserve judgement for a at least a few days. I could have sworn I heard the noise again on the way home but I could also swear the engine feels more responsive low-end. It could all be my imagination.

I'll monitor it for a few days and also see what sort of mpg I'm now getting.
