you weren't that guy that was done for cottaging in the gents toilets in about 1996 were you????
actually, a funny incident happened to me in the Tavern a few years ago...lets go back in time....
Me and some of my mates (RAF lads from Lyneham on the pull) were in the tavern and the music was that loud conversation was nigh on impossible. I was trying to make an observation about a particular hunny to my mate Dave (spitting image of Cheif O'Brien from Star Trek ie a face like a bag of spanners) I could not make myself heard over the din and in the end got that frustrated i did "piss-take" sign language at him. At that the song finished and Dave, wearing a very angry expression, pointed his finger at me and said "Don't take the
piss, my sisters deaf"...Course i felt terrible at this (not the first time i've put my  )
To try and make amends later in the evening during another break in songs i wandered over to Dave to apologise. I said, "sorry for taking the piss you know with the sign language and everything. I had no idea about your sister and it was insensitive of me..."
"Its alright Greg", said Dave.
"So...er...I was just messing about doing sign language but you must really know it then"? I enquired...
"Nope" said Dave.
"How do you talk to your sister then"? I asked, puzzled.
"I don't", he replied, straightfaced, "she's
boring"

Cairos. My local! Went several times, but don’t remember much. For the best! It was always full of Greendowneions. I was always a Kaoss boy myself (Hmm not sure I should admit that) that is until it got merged with R66 and turned in to Desperate and Divorcer! Some good nights had in Mission, in the early days. I wasn’t cool enough to go to Brunel, although that was the last club I went to and really enjoyed myself. I obviously became cool when I got my CC. Ok Maybe not.
Sorry just rekindling my youth!
So was anyone here one of those b/racers who always tried to pick up after the clubs chucked out? Please say no… Please.

When it first opened, Mission was cool as fcuk. Started to go downhill (like most things in Swindon) after a few months. Any Swindonites here remember Level 3 (opposite the Big Top market), it was the best place to listen to Britpop in the mid 90's as well as late 80's early 90's indie tunes. They searched you for drugs on entry and if you were clean, gave you some...
Pashas - those in the know realise i don't need to say any more than that!
Route 66 - at one point in about 1996 we had 8 RAF lads working as barmen there on a Thursday and Sunday night....the bar down the bottom next to the dancefloor was "our" bar....66p a pint on Sundays - what was the "own-brand" beer called again? It was shite. Ah....how many lucky Swindon girls have managed to bag a RAF lad in Route 66, to be taken back to RAF Lyneham and dumped uncerimoniously at the Main Gate the morning after. I used to love being armed up on the gate and watch the bewildered young beauties (well, they were the night before!) staggering to the bus stop! Oh Happy Days!

Do you know they do (or did) lay on a bus from London every week for people to go to The Brunel Rooms, it was/is that popular....Brunel .. still very good, one of europes top dance venues (still with rotating bar)
The revolving bar made me feel sick...
