I am kidding but was amazed by a news article today on the cost of petrol. It seems that in Iraq that petrols costs 5.68 PENCE per GALLON.

No I havent made a mistake - pence per gallon.

I wonder if Greg can sneak us a tanker or 2 full out on one of his little planes

and that petrol strike we had here didnt do much good really did it. the price always creeps up doesnt it. fucking government makes me sick. tories all the way.

In the meantime, do what I do, avoid the big companies ie Shell, Esso, BP and use the smaller ones. If everyone in the country did it, prices would be forced down sooner than you think...

petrol went up another 2p today to 76.9

it was only just before xmas that one local garage was 71.9 with 2p cash back making it 69.9p.

You've got to feel sorry for Shell though, haven't you? Their profits for the last three months of 2002 were only Â£1.7 billion...

thye only take a small percentage of the profit. the majority is tax.

Petrol companies may only make a small profit. But they do need to sell it. If you process crude oil you will get petrol you have to sell it at a profit or not. Only other option is to burn it or dump it

I was filling up at the petrol station yesterday (at 74.9 p/l) when I noticed the Autogas pump price was 28.9 p/l. I think I might check out getting the conversion done after all. Even if it costs Â£1,500, it will still pay for itself in a year or so.

The silly little garages round here are more expensive than the likes of shell/BP

Besides, i would rather pay a little bit extra sometimes - i only ever use Shell & BP (essos in an emergency) No way am i putting bloody Q8 or supermarket fuel in MY car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an esso girl. Ashford is 77.9 ouch gone up 3p in a week, whereas canterbury is 73.9.... Its so unfair.

being quite sad I actually monitor my fuel consumption (spreadsheets) and believe that you get better MPG from Esso.

See my link for Prolong if you want better MPG - I got an extra 10mpg from the Jetta.

It may be sad but it has saved me money. I once used the figures to prove to a dealer that one of my cars had a fault and was suing toooo much fuel.

I showed them the figures for the car from the day I owned it and they agreed to investigate - petrol consumption fixed and no repair bill for me.

If thats sad then I am happy to be sad

I use BP garages and the M2 Medway services are 79.9 and Royal Oak Erith 74.3, Tollgate Gravesed 74.9 and Medway Tunnel BP 75.9. Why do you pay more on a Motorway?
