Driving from work today I thought I heard some strange noise. I tried turning on/off the fan severeal times, but the noise was not comming from the ventilation system.
After driving 1-2 kilometers the noise changed, and I could smell a disgusting smell of something burning or beeing very hot! And thereafter the singals and display went bananas.. I can't rememnber what accuately took place, because I was consirened about finding a place to stop the car, but the LCD display stated 'failure on passanger air-bag'..
After stopping the car and checking I could not se anything wrong, but the smell was still there all around the car..
Starting the car was not possible, it was no reaction from the starter.
At the moment the car is at my dealers garage, and I'm hoping they can find out something tomorrow..

Similar thing happened with us. It turns out that it was the Starter Motor that had shorted. I believe a couple of people had this problem too and a replacement motor fixed it.
However, on ours it had also blown the BSI Main Fuse Box. This part is specific to the CC and has not been released by Peugeot as a spare part yet. We rejected our car due to this and another long list of defects.
Our Dealer had no support from Peugeot HO in getting hold of the part, and I believe that the old car is still at the garage 6 weeks later unable to go on the forecourt to be sold.
It's about time Peugeot start investigating why the starter motor shorts.

I talked with the dealer today, and they have ordered a new BSI from France. They did not say anything about problems ordering this part, and estimates deliverance in about 1 week.
They also said they had to start with this box, and had not done any further investigation yet. I asked spesific if they had found any 'burned' electronic parts, and they said they had not.. I have asked them to look again, beacause the smell was very strong!
So im planning to talk with Peugeout HQ i Norway tomorrow to verify that the BSI is orderable.
How long is acceptable to wait for the car to be OK before rejecting?

The BSI part never came...
I phoned the dealer last week and informed them about the BSI part ordering problem and also asked them to check the starter as a result of information I received here. They was not very interested in checking the starter before they had replaced the BSI, because their test program indicated BSI failure.
Friday they confirmed to me that the ordering of the BSI was all normal, and it was to be sent by fastest available delivery..
This morning they called me and told me that my car was ready to be picked up. But the BSI was never changed, it was not available from France at the moment. But they had finaly checked the starter which was broken, and replaced it.
So I'm back on the road again, waiting to se what next is failing... (so far the speedometer and the starer..)
