Just picked my car up for the third time - only had it since 1st March!!! - so only had it at home for 4 days!! This time they had to replace window lifter on quarter light and then completely realign the roof!!!

Everything seems much better but there is still a rattle on the drivers main window. Does not rattle when its down - any thoughts or do I have to take it back again?!!!!

Sorry Stephen, but I'd take it back again as its simply not right. My windows don't rattle nor should any of them!

Sounds like a high grade lemon to me fresh off the Peugeot tree from the discription you have recounted of the car's history in the short space of time you've had the car.

I don't like to mention this because I'm sure your at a low point enough right now but there comes a time to cut your losses and if it were me, that point would now have come. Also Sounds like Peugeot have had your car long enough now to fix these fairly major problems so serious actions now seems appropriate. Otherwise you may well find yourself taking regular trips back to the dealers and the car's history doesn't bode well.

Why not ask Derek and Rob for details on how best to tackle Peugeot with regard to lemon rejections - reckon the've accumulated a whole basket of fruit by now.

Start off afresh with a new one, OK you may have to wait a few weeks (you should be a priority case) but you've deserved it and Peugeot can count themselves lucky to retain your custom.

Commiserations, Robbie.

stephen,

your CC sounds like the long lost brother of the one i had. the more opportunities you give the dealer to fix it and the higher the mileage goes then the harder it can be to reject unless there is a major fault.

my CC was repairable so my rejection case was far from watertight but my way of words with the dealer ensured a nice smooth rejection with a replacement at minimal cost.

you may not want to reject your CC after waiting so long for it, but i wasn't prepared to live with the fact that i paid nearly £17500 for a heap of junk.

my CC was officially rejected on 22/2/02 and i found out today that my new one arrived at the dealer today and i hope to pick it up after the accessories are fitted and it is fully tested next wednesday - only 26 days after point of rejection.

you have to decide what you want - a lemon or a car that you will enjoy.

if you need any info on rejecting, send me a PM.

good luck !

derek

I agree with Derek, start the ball rolling now.

I can always help you word a letter like I did for Lyndon. He soon got a miraculous fix in next to no time.

Thanks for all your thoughts. As you can imagine I am well pi**ed off - the windows shouldnt rattle on a £16000 car!!

I will give them one more chance with the windows and then thats it. I am fed up with the car not being here. There has been no real apology for the inconvenience or an offer of a courtesy car while mine was in for repairs!!!!!

Rob - I would really appreciate your thoughts on a letter to Peugeot and how to go about doimg some serious complaining!

Get in touch either via email or post on the site.

Cheers

Stephen,

you need to be a bit stricter and demand a courtesy car that you are happy with.

the 1st time my CC went in it was meant to be for a few hours but they got it wrong and wanted the car for the day (ended up being 4 days). they were bluntly told that i wasn't waiting, the car was being fixed, and i wanted a car. i ended up getting a 106 Quicksilver as that was all they had due to no notice.

next time i got the after sales managers Rover 75 which was worth £20k for 9 days as i had complained about receiving a 106. next time i got a Rover 45 for 3 weeks and when i rejected my 206CC, is was only on condition that they took the Rover 45 back and gave me a high spec 307/406. i got a 307 2.0GLX and have it until my new CC arrives. the 307 was less than 2 months old when i got it.

during talks on rejection my general manager tried to say they had spent a lot of money on me by keeping me mobile with courtesy cars - he was told if at any point i had been left without a car then i would have left the keys of the CC with them and walked away and demanded a full refund.

at the end of the day, it isn't the dealers fault that peugeot don't know how to build cars, but it is their responsibility to ensure it is repaired without looking like monkeys (sorry to the real monkeys).

No Courtesy car - shame on them! My dealership has given me a courtesy car twice. The second time I didn't even tell them I wanted one (which I did), it was just presumed and it was there waiting for me. There was one point when I said I could only drop the car off on Sunday afternoon with the sales guys and could pick it up the following Saturday and that was no problem even though the job it went in for was a day job! Give em Hell - it's in the warranty agreement thingy!

Stephen, stephen, stephen - not even a courtesy car for all your pains ?? - all the more reason to reject it now, wake up and smell the coffee mate - doesn't seem like the dealer gives a damn about you - reject it now and hand them the keys or you will probably regret it later.

My dealer always offers a car.

The one time my old car was going to be off the road for more than 2 days I made Peugeot HQ find and hire me a CC until mine was fixed

Thanks agian for all your thoughts.

I sat down last night to prepare a letter of complaint/rejection which if I say so myself is pretty damn good - uses some of the adivise/wording from the What Car templates and is now two pages of A4!!

Went to a friends last night and the car was left outside in the heavy rain for the first time.... you know whats coming!.....yes you guessed it, there is now a leak coming from the replaced quarter light!!!!!

So thats it - the final straw. Just a bit concerned that if I reject it will I still get all the extras added to a new one? - colourcoding/rear spoiler etc.?

Stephen, great to hear your gonna kick some butt. No reason why your dealer can't swap your new colour coded trims for those of the replacement model when it arrives or better still, spay your new trims free of charge. Not sure about swapping spoiler though as it will leave marks, but then again, why should you be disadvantaged financially by leaving your new spoiler on the rejected model, go for requesting they fit either your old spoiler or a new one free of charge (they certainly have a moral obligation to do so).

my new CC is being fitted with wheel arch extensions and mesh grille as the original car had - no extra cost as that's the way i bought it.
