No offence taken, I'm sure.

The windstop is to stop me from getting a cold down my back as i wear quite loose shirts and get a cold easily due to relatively weak lungs. Although that isn't the case for most, it is for me.

I don't see having a convertible as something you do just because you want to feel the wind. If you had a motorbike, would you wear thinner clothes to feel the wind? If it was legal, would you ride at 80mph without a helmet just to get the wind through your hair? Of course not, you didn't buy a motorbike for that. You bought it because you like the style, the vehicle and what it does for you as a mode of transport. You buy what suites your desire and need. In an ideal world, I would have an Aston Martin Vanquish. I just like sexy, smart and desirable cars. You have to admit, a convertible will almost always fall into those categories and the CC is a good example of that and its something the common man (such as myself) can afford unlike the aforementioned jam jar.

Thats what I get from the CC. The style, the ability to put the roof down and get the buzz you get driving a convertible (wind is not a factor in that in my opinion, its just a rush) and, in a small way, the pose factor (shameless, I know :))

The windstop is to take some of the chill away when you're doing :censored: mph down the M6 at 1am after an enjoyable evening at Anfield in the middle of winter ;)

Seriously, it's almost a necessity for cold-weather & high-speed topless driving.

Sorry Mr AWOL, just to add, its nothing to do with not wanting the open-top experience, of course we do. We just don't want to get pneumonia while we get it :)

Hopefully that explains a bit more why the windstop is for some of us quite a nice thing to have. As you say, each to there own. Would be boring if we all liked the same thing. One could also argue why buy a CC if you just want to add certain fittings to make it look like a Lexus and add certain things to the engine to make it perform like a porsche.

Tips for tickets:

1. Get a season ticket. This will only take you about 10-15 years at the current rate.
2. Join the Priority Ticket Scheme. This will most likely take a lifetime as well.
3. Start dialling at 09:14:55 on the day the tickets go on sale. Be prepared to hit the redial button for a couple of hours unless you get really lucky.
4. Know someone with a ticket who's not going to the game. Check on newsgroups, chatrooms, pubs, etc.
5. Buy from a tout. This is highly expensive, illegal and there's no guarantee it's even a valid ticket so I'd personally rule it out as an option.

That's it, really. I'm currently at the second stage (PTS). 10,000 members for 5,000 tickets per game. Better odds than the general sale but I still get the old redial cramp in my fingers.

...i'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind it...
The reasoning behind it is simple enough. It stops (or at least reduces) the amount of backdraught in the car when you have the roof down. I don't think it affects the roof-down experience in any way. It's most effective though on those iffy days when you're on the motorway. If you have the roof up but all the windows open then virtually all the whirlwinds are eliminated by having the windstop up.

As to the question of how easy is it to fit? Pretty much every day in Summer, after I have dropped the kids off at school, I take it out of the boot, slot it into place and put the roof down before continuing off to work.

Having the roof up and all the windows open? might as well have a hatch back?

Lets be honest, with the roof down and the windows up, there is very little wind up to aboput 90 mph, and with the heaters on gently, it doesnt exactly get cold. I tend to mainly have the roof down if it is 14/15c or more, and will sometimes 'go topless' down to about 8C, although i have had the roof down below 3C, and that was the only tuime i have ever felt cold

Doesnt it block the rear mirrow view too?

It's an option, that's all. Much research has shown the following...

Options are:
Roof up, windows up, windstop up Night time - anti glare option
Roof down, windows up, windstop up Least wind roof down option
Roof up, windows down, windstop up Lots of fresh air, convenient, no wind
Roof down, windows down, windstop up Best general option
Roof up, windows up, windstop down Best for rainy days
Roof down, windows up, windstop down Medium windiness
Roof up, windows down, windstop down Maximum windiness
Roof down, windows down, windstop down Good for slower, twisty roads

There's even less with the windstop.

I've done it at -1C, without windows or windstop. Once you go numb the cold feeling goes away. ;)

Would just like to say i had my roof down today, 7C, cloudy and a little bit of wind (the weather, not me!)

Side windows up, heaters on 3/4 of max, blowers on number 2, wearing a suit (no overcoat)

Perfectly comportable, and most enjoyable - no need for a windstop

Other than that, i could have had some ridiculous piece of tent flysheet behind my head, £200 less in my current account, and turned the heaters down a shade!

bargain
I take it you are not a fan of windstops either then derek?

My next new years resolution is going to HAVE to be not to post anything about windstops, or boot rack, or the stupid wind deflector things for windows (only on hatchbacks i think) or the lack of a point to buying a convertible, then driving around in the cold with the roof up, but the windows open!
