Hi all

Don't know about anyone else, but lately I am seeing more and more cars fitted with under belly neon lights or blue neon lights where the windscreen washer spray thingy is.

What is going on?

Is this a new craze?
Is it cool to have neon lights on your car?
Are they called neon lights?
Do the lights under the car increase visibility, or can you use them to check no one is hiding under your car?
Do boys get blue lights and girls get pink lights?
Can you get clear lexus underbelly neon lights?
Are maxpower giving these lights away free due to poor sales?

I must must know the answer to these questions, I want to be hip, I need to be cool, help me.....

:P :P :P :P :P

They're only illegal if you use them on a public road ;-)

undercar neon if done properly looks quite good. The whole point in that the car appears to 'float' on the colour. However most people use four max power neons whihc arent bvright enough and it looks pants.
wathc the fast and the furise to see it done correclty, go to any cruise or your local maccy d's to see it done incorrectly.

cause when it comes to using neon in the boot to light up an ice build .. I'm ya man ;)

Yep only white lights to the front and red light to the back of vehicles are strictly legal on the highway (except when reversing and to illuminate the numberplate of course).

There's nothing to stop you from using different coloured lights inside the vehicle BUT only as long as others on a public highway can't see to be distracted by them. I think the neon washer lights and under car lights would definitely fall in the illegal bracket and those using them risk collecting points if they were unlucky enough to encounter a bored highway patrol. I'm not bothered by them, live an let live I say as the cool light doesn't seem to dazzle.

Robbie.

time to start a debate .... appearntly they arnt illegal if the actualt tubes are hidden. something about the fact the car itself is not displaying the light, as it just appers to be ground lighting ....

it comes down to whihc magazine you read i guess, but I'm not going to be trying to find out !

Nope. Believe it or not, they're perfectly legal.

they aint legal. otherwise why would it say on the packet not for steet use. also if its blue (which the majority are) you could be done for impersonating a copper. thus making them illegal.
