Aww thats sweet.

I had a great uncle who was colour blind and whos initials were JR. He had a little fiesta and got a personalised numberplate so he could tell his car out easily when parked in a car park.
The plate was JR 72.
He died about 15 years ago and I was hoping that I would be granted the numberplate in his will but I wasn't
Prob worth a few bob now. All I would need to do was marry someone whos surname began with an R!

Thanks, in fact my half brother was after the number plate an kept pestering my father, cos his daughters initials were LTF, but as my father had promised me the plate since I was about 5 years old cos I was always mad about cars, he was out of luck.

PS. JR 72 would be worth at least 6K now, probably more.

Hey, thats really interesting Rob :D

I notice registrations seem to become more valuable the less numbers and letters there are, the exception to the rule being number plates that make up words of course.

I hadn't known there was a difference between Cherished Numbers and Personalized ones:

Cherished Numbers
Are the registration number that has previously been issued for people that like to transfer their existing number from their old vehicle when they replace it for reasons of memorability, or simply because they liked it.

Personalised Numbers
are a newer idea than cherished registrations and allow certain numbers to be reserved from normal use for sale at auction to raise money under the scheme sine 1983

Julia re: JR 72

These initials were first issued in NOV 1932
and continued to be issued through to JUL 1939.

PS. An theres a cool number plate currently for sale, "Erm 20" on this site:

I currently have my name and a number on my car. No suffix or prefix :) and as Robbie says the lower the number the more they cost. I bought mine for only a few thousand about 6 years ago. Its better than putting money in the bank - its worth a mint now :) Thats why I buy number plates and put them on retention

My date of birth is 6/9/69 so I want Rob 69 or 69 Rob

If anyone sees either of these plates for sale let me know asap PLEASE
