not to start off a debate, but what's the point of buying an Xbox when you can play all its best games on PC and at a better resolution ? ok fair enough you need to have a PC "with balls" so to speak but really i don't see the point of an Xbox.
1. worse graphics than PC
2. multiplayer aspect on the net just started and very limited
3. games cost tooooo much compared to PC (roughly 50%more)
4. all the best games will be or are already on Pc
5. can't upgrade its hardware (you are stuck with it until the Xbox 2 comes out)
6. a JOYPAD even for first person shooters (too bad)
I was tempted to buy 1 when Halo came out, but then I regained sanity and Halo will be out for PC in the next 3 months, Splinter cell is coming out at the end of Jan for PC (played the demo, veeeeery cool)
Of course if you have a PC with a 4Mb graphics card and windows 95 on it then buy an Xbox (not a PS2)

stephen: you still have to be able to play online! PC was playing on the net since DOOM days! and... lag? what's lag? god bless ADSL (or cable)...what is it supposed to crash? I can not remember last time my PC has crashed in ANY application (nevermind any game), tnx windows Xp and the NTFS file system!
ok it's only 150£ but consider the games you have to buy.... 45£ each! (pc £30 max) and again, you are stuck with the same hardware with NO possibility of upgrading! (apart from an extra memory card)
erm: gamecube better left where it is (shelf) only pro is that it is cheap like the ppl that play it
(and I bought a N64 only to play Zelda so i am a nintendo fan, really) and again 1 game =£45!
ok I read some reviews of metroid prime .... looks good but unfortunately it's only got that 1 game worth! And NO HALO is much better game and it won't ever come out for GC (unless they completely reprogram it since the GC hardware wouldn't be able to run it properly)

oh 1 last thing: FPS are MUCH better played on a mouse + keyboard combination. No joypad would ever be any closer to the above gamestyle
