Whilst at the zoo (my local garage). I noticed 2 cc's in the car park one silver one black, one 02 and one 52 so I assume they are multiplex versions. I was chatting to the guy on the service desk (I know him well through my company dealings with our fleet of pugs) and he said that they were both in for roof probs. Apparently they can fail if you don't follow the correct procedure properly and the on-board computer gets confused as to where the roof is. So should my finger accidently slip off the roof button the computer will get the 'ump, is what they're saying now. Apparently the reason for my roof failing at the meet was that I wasn't pressing the button hard enough and the computer got confused. Hope the car is problem free for a while.

The "hold down" button must be a deliberate saftey feature. If you couldn't stop the roof mid way what hapens to little jimmy's finger when he decides to stick them in to the roof mechanism as it closes. A one touch button would require a lot of technology to detect the slightest resistance and stop the roof. Mind you did you see Clarkson testing the saftey of the Maybach motorised boot on Top Gear

I've lost count the amount of times I did that. Anyway my roof worked fine after getting into the boot and making sure the roller blind was in place. Thank god I don't have to take the car back there for a while. Wonder what story they will come up with then???
Ho..hum winters here again no more roof dropping now til spring.

Oh I await the day!! actually my car is going in to get the cord thing in the boot replaced.... so no doubt they will be lowering the roof for me.... I have it set in my mind that the roof will be down at least once every month
As for the roof, only probs Ive had are it not beeping when its finnihsed and in the boot ... ive always been paranoid and put it up and down again.
Oh yeah and a few times ive actualyl caught the button with my arm whilst at traffic lights and wondered why the hell my car is beeping whilst im driving along - scary that is .. heh.
