Guys, I am thinking of buying my Mum a 206CC Auto as a Christmas pressie......

Just wanted to find out if there are any good and bad points about them and if there is anything I should look out for.

Your advice is appreciated.

Chewy.

blimey, you must like yer mum,can i have one as well

Had my 1.6 agean blue 3 weeks now, apart from a small leak which i think they have fixed its a fantastic car.

the feeling of driving, even in this cold weather with the roof down is awesome(wind stop a must)

After 600 miles i cannot praise this car enough, sadly there are others on here who have had major probs with theirs, some have even rejected the car.

But for me and her indoors, roll on the summer.

No your carnt !! I can only afford one !!:D

The choice is a used Merc SLK or one of these... the only thing with the Merc is obvoiusly it will be an older car and I dont want things to go wrong and have big bills. Thats why a new one of these seems like a good idea.

I did wonder if these Pugs were prone to problems being French....

I would get the used merc. much better investment than a 206cc. The cc has its fault and rattly trim but if money not a real issue then get the merc definately

Well money is a issue.... 15k is the budget to buy the car. Once its bought running it is all down to her.

The Merc would be 96/97 P or R reg with about 50k I guess.

I dont want a car that will have big bills to keep it on the road thats why a new car with a 3yr warranty looks good. I want this car to last 10 years + .....

Did you guys get any decent discounts ?

Don't no over many regulars that have an automatic. Wait till the Aussie come on line they all seem to have autos.

Otherwise there's the regular prolems of leaks and squeaks. Try the search function you may get more from that.

But don't be put off by any problems you may see here. CC the doggies pink bits. The good bit out weigh and problems that a few drivers get.

to answer col, you dont buy a car to make an investment! as soon as you drive it out of the dealer it has lost at least 1000 pounds ! whatever car it is

Most people on here still like their CC so much even with the slight niggles, myself included, at the end of the day it's up to you which car you buy but i know which one i'd have ;)

Cheers

don't get her a CC - she will have nothing but problems with it and will hate you forever more.

p.s. there are too many CC's on the road - reproduction must be controlled :P

if i had a choice between a new SLK or CC then obviously i would take the SLK. if it had to be a P/R reg SLK then i wouldn't thank you for it in a million years.

CC gets the vote.

CC for me too... I've had it since September, had a couple of problems (latest one is a rattle coming from the boot, it seems, even when emptied it going over bumps, CC going in on monday where I'll get the grille fitted too ehehe Thanx Debbie for Christmas eheheh), but they sort it on warranty! lemons are rare I'd say
Come on we want a CC granny owner :)
