i won't go into the story of how it happened to prevent depression but a bad / irritating / annoying / boring / complicated day at work ended with my CC leaving the road. no damage to the actual car BUT the sump hit something so all the oil has drained / poured out leaving a very expensive repair bill.
so now the CC is sitting marooned in my driveway until it goes to be fixed. luckily i have got a loan of a W reg Vauxhall Astra from a mate so that's what i will be driving for the time being.

lol alright Derek, no probs, I'm more than happy to lend the SLK out to a friend in need for a week, but a round 1000 miles on the clock from new
