Hi All
My wife has bought a new 206cc SE and now done 500 miles. 2 questions inituially-
1)we seem to have the squeaking brake problem seen in other posts. Is it worth seeking assistance?
2) After reversing, there is a notible "rubber" smell from the rear of the car- does this come from the clutch, and does it imply a problem?

The car is an import via Motorpoint (from whom we got excellent service with no problems with finance charges, and no acceptance fees etc after getting written full details of the finance) Delivery was just 8 weeks from order, and saved 2.5k on UK list.

Has anyone experienced any difficulty with warranty work on imported cars?

She now regrets not ordering car with leather. Are there any aftermarket mods worth recommending?

Thanks for your help!

Get aftermarket leather...comparible in cost to the option, and you get to choose a colour. After I found out about this, I was disappointed I got the factory leather, as it's bad quality (baggy) and only available in black (or that black/red). I would say that leather is a must, the car interior gets filthy with dust 'n' stuff.

The mesh grille is a must (really sets the front off), as is the windstop - topless motoring when it's (dry and) nippy

I wouldn't bother with Lexus style rear lights (I have them) the quality is not there.

I also quite like the headlamp conversion, but at over £500....

Someone on the Forum mentioned they only paid a little over £600 for their aftermarket leather which was cheaper than the £700 factory option. I had a quick search but couldn't find the details.

Stuarts right, I had factory leather after seeing Pugs which without it, in my view looked a little dull and plain inside, leather adds a different class to the car and much more comfort. The factory leather extends to round the doors and glove compartment. Of course not everyone can afford the option but apart from the asthetic appeal and comfort, its bound to help improve resale desirability and is easier to clean than the cloth (Liz says hers gets clogged up with dust during those topless summer days).

So I would always recommend people thinking about leather paying the extra if they can.

Yeah i agree robbie.........

but if your spending 15-16k on a car, you may as well pay the extra 700 quid for leather.

Just while we are talking about leather, I got some "Carr Day & Martin" leather wipes for those little emergencies which I keep in the glove box. They are about £2.50 per pack and are available from all good Saddlery outlets.

Hi Neil,

I bought mine from Motorpoint too - last Dec and only had a couple of tiny niggles which were sorted under warranty.

You'll need the paperwork which motorpoint gives/sends you which clearly states "you need this for your warranty" - the invoice from the european dealer to their importer. Also, the date it's registered is the day your warranty kicks in - not the day you bought it from Motorpoint.

When you take it for your first service (6,000 miles) take all the paperwork to the pug dealer and ask them to add it to the UK database.
