Well a long time ago children born in the UK to foreign nationals automatically gained the right to British Citizenship. This policy changed (sometime around 1983 if I can recall) when children born within the UK to foreign nationals were no longer entitled to Brit Citizenship.

Obviously if Erm's parents were British Citizens when he was born, Erm had British Citizenship by birth, or if one or more parent before gaining Brit Citizenship had indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the UK, at the time of Erm's birth, they could have applied on Erm's behalf for him to become a British Citizen.

Once a British Citizen, only if you stripped someone of their British Citizenship could they be deported and that would only happen if they gained it through fraudulent means.
