Thought it was about time I registered after lurking on the sidelines for months.

My real Name is Peter, but as I am stuck in the 80's and my Surname is Foley, my friends call me Axel (Beverley Hills Cop - for you youngsters)

Any way, great site. I hope my input and comments are OK with you all.

Sorry, I dont follow you. Is it an in joke or am I just being stupid (the latter I hear you all cry  )

Erm, sorry to steal you crown but I think I am the youngest now. I am 17 on Christmas day. Bummer really as all presents are on one day :(.

But on the plus side, mum & dad have bought me a 2 litre CC for my birthday/christmas. I just hope I can pass my test on my first attempt in the new year or I will be so

WOOOOOHOOOOOOO i;m no longer the youngest......

but ummm how do you expect to get insured on a 2 litre CC at 17????

on a 1.6 i only found one company to insure me for a small fortune!!!

u'll be better off paying for the car yourself and gettin ur parents to pay for the insurance......it;ll be about 10 grand!!!

Just a thought. If Axel's parents were to insure it, Axel can hopefully save lots of dosh by being merely a named driver on their policy?

An if the parents have a protected no claims discount on the policy it shouldn't matter if someone pranged it (well maybe it would).

Robbie.

Really Erm? My, things must have changed a lot since my day as a young driver on me parents insurance, hope I wasn't responsible for the Insurance companies getting wise.

I think the key issue is who drives the car most of the time. I could get my kids insured on my cc (some chance!! :D ) but if one of them owned the car and drove it the majority of the time the insurance would be void.

Don't mess with Insurance companies, they have long memories and if they can find any excuse not to pay up they'll use it!

The insurance is quite simple. My dad owns a large haulage firm and the car will be registered as a company vehicle. I am 'employed' by my dad so get to drive it on the company policy.

RESULT I would say and legal.

It was easy really. Dads insurance costs over £4 million a year so to keep his business they agreed to let me on this car :) Lucky old me.
