I surrenderred and had my magical deflating tyres checked out.

Alas I had two punctures in the wall of the front drivers side and a puncture in the back tyre, both were classed as no good.

Went to 'TYREWEB' who were superb. Stayed with them as my cc is my pride and joy (and he gets scared around strangers) and they explained everything.

Anyway 2 tyres cost me £230.00 all in, and the nice chaps even put the new tyres on the front as they had to match.

CHEERS GUYS!! :D

Ouch!
I paid about £130 for 2 new tyres! They were also fitted and balanced and that included VAT too! They even came to me!

But then don't feel too bad as Pug tried ripping me off with a price that they obviously picked out of the sky!

Problem with that paul is that it'll probably cost you a grand to change all 4 tyres next time and thats without the free alloys. May be better off getting a new wheel and tyre package

In the original post Emma mentioned having to have the same tyres on the same axle - I have heard this previously but currently have 2 original goodyears on one side of the car and 2 dunlop sports on the other.

Does it matter (other than the obvious fact that the eagles look better!)?

It's illegal (because it's highly dangerous) to mix cross-ply and radials on the same axle.

It's probably a good idea not to mix different tyres on the same axle either, but it's not illegal.

Thanks - I knew the cross ply/radial bit, but the garage didn't seem to care when I asked about different makes (and therefore tread patterns) on one axle - probably because it would take them longer to shift the wheels around.

The other reason I wanted them to change the tyres round was to ensure I got even wear rates i.e. put both the new ones on the driven wheels

I've just had my tyres balanced and have been told there is only about 4 months wear left on them.
I've only done 13,000 miles on my CC - surely this is a bit excessive?
I don't drive the car that hard to cause excessive wear either!

Has anyone had any different make of tyre fitted? I've never really liked the standard ones much. But that may have been because the tracking has been out since new.

i'm at 14k and the back seem fine but the front really need replacing soon. i guess the way i drive could be described as average but don't mind letting the car show how well it can grip on a roundabout when i'm always late for work :P

as for other tyres i will stick with the goodyear f1's but there are quite a few topics on general chat etc.. at www.peugeot-gti.net that recommend others.

I am getting Toyo PXT1-S 's for mine, when I can find some alloys.

Can get a very good deal as a mate is a reseller and has an account direct with toyo so he can sell them to me at the trade price.

Will let you know how they get on in 15,000 miles time
