Im still concerned with my fuel consumption.

DOes this sound right? because it does not to me.

I have used half a tank of petrol and the needle is on the half way mark
and done 127 miles. This is in a 1.6.

Ive done motorway and city driving in that too.

I drive a majority of motorway miles but however through 2 road widening works where the speed limit varies from 40 to 50mph and some town driving on my daily run. and return a daiily average of 45mpg unless I''m steamed up and it drops to 38mpg. I find that feathering the throttle boosts the economy figure a bit but I also am alarmed at the short tank range (average 320 miles before the Warning comes on) then I have to endure the widely documented refuelling problems. :( especially when I average 400 miles a week

Well it is only a small car. My Fiesta's warning light comes on between 280 and 320 miles, depending on how heavy my foot's been.

127 miles on half a tank?   Hmmmmm.... here's my penny's worth.

The gague is notoriously inaccurate so on mine, realistically it'd be more like 2/3 of a tank!!!!

Are you filling it to the top? When the nozzle clicks, let it settle then you'll get another couple of litres in.

I fill my 2l up, trip it, then fill it up again and see how far I've gone on how much - usually £31 and 300 miles, with about 2/3 around town and the odd bit of clogging it (so the computer reads 11mpg) and the other 1/3 at 80mph (I mean 70!) motorway driving.

Any help? Yeah, I'd say your mpg is poor but don't know what to suggest?

I dont know what to do .. im gonna work out what im actually getting manually, ive taken readings of how much fuel I put in .. and how manymiles ill be doing before I next fill up. This will prove once and for all if it is bad or not.....

Then if it is, its a trip to the dealer, who still have not called me about my replacment switch !! aand I still have not had the marks sorted on my dash board.... utter rubbish dealer .... I'll be travelling the extra miles next time to buy I can tell yoU!

Sounds quite similar to my consumption, which works out about 280-300 a full tank, thats if i fill it up to the top. Also depends on your driving style

You'd be surpised. I do lots of miles in the company Mondeo. My average fuel consuption can vary from 15 to 40mpg for a single journey. The current Average MPG determines the number of miles to go so a change from 30 to 20mpg might explain the change you saw. Althought I would hope the algorithm the trip computer is more complex than that they can't realy see into the future. I often miles to go increase by many miles when I get onto motorway. The distance the fuel low warning light comes on varies fom 60 to 3 miles. I don't see this a a malfunction just the limitations of maths.

Err very serious, with city driving, which is what I do the most, why is there any need ??? Over 3000RPM is excessive and I would leave most other cars standing. 2500 works quite nicely.
