When I go over bumpy roads I have a noise that is a very hollow popping/knocking sound from the rear, is this the dreaded gas from the shocks problem?

I have the same from the front when I go over a bump...

I contect my dealer (usually very good) and they looked through their technical records and cold find nothing to do with a known faulty shock....

Does anyone have proof that this is a peugoet known problem !?!?!

Mine did had the same noise as M275, but the dealer fixed it by replcaing the insert of the shocks. They said that the noise is caused by faulty shock leaking gas .......................... also, at that time, the car wasn't going straight so i asked them to do a wheel alignment (part of warranty on fixing the shock), however even after the wheel alignment, the car still won't go straight. I've told the technician back then and he said it may take a couple of days for the new parts to settle down.

It's been 2 months since they fixed the front left shock, but now the wheel alignment problem seems to getting worst and now i've got some other noise coming from the front suspension, some kind of metal twisting noise when i turn the wheel. I've booked in on Monday for them to have a look .......................... i have a bad feeling that my front strut may be bent

Will post more details here after monday

cheers

Our CC developed a tendancy to pull to the left/kerb side at about 4K miles, (nothing to do with road camber - tried it on both sides of road and centre of dual carriageway and still did it). Right from day one the tyre wear to the outer edge of the N/S/F tyre was excessive, (nothing to do with hard cornering and Bedford doesn't have roundabouts everywhere like Milton Keynes!).

Both problems were on the list for Warwick Wright Brent Cross to check out when they had the car for a month. It was one of many things on the list they said 'cannot fault' to........ and our car was 'a good example of a CC'.

Think they were trying to say all CC's are ridden with problems and many were worse than ours!

Haven't got the car now so don't know what the problems were!

Though, did have a rear shock replaced on an Astra Belmont and the replacement did the loud popping sound when you went over a pothole or bump.

Got my car back today, a broken engine mount and a loose front strut. The car was alright when i picked it up and for the first time it's been going straight. Then after 10mins of test driving or so, the knocking noise (much less than before) came back up again and the wheel start to pull to the left hand side again ......... :(
