Having experienced a puncture yesterday, repaired with tyre weld, I was expecting to have to shell out £90 for a new tyre.

Whatever the garage tells you 'DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!' you do not need a new tyre. The only reason they will not repair your tyre is because they are lazy ba*tards who do not like to get their hands dirty.

My local tyre place 'APEX TYRES, PETERBOROUGH' cleaned out the tyre weld, plugged and balanced my wheel for £10. I seriously recommend these guys if you live locally, they are also dirt cheap for tyres, exhausts etc.

Just thought I would share that with you all.

Cheers................ Marcus

Good tip - deserves stickiness or even an announcement...

The guys at the Tyre place in March, near Peterborough repaired mine when I got a punture and vey very helpful and only charges me £12.00, initially they were a little reluctant, but cleaned the tyre no problem

Yes, sounds good if used sensibly, maybe I'd use it as a emergency spare and then only if travelling under 70 mph.

I wouldn't us it as a main tyre over 70 mph as the heat and pressure in a low profile travelling at speed builds up considerably and will no doubt test any weak spot such as a plug in time. I would be worried of a blow out in such circumstances.

I used to be told by a number of tyre centres, rightly or wrongly, that they wouldn't risk repairing a hole in a low profile tyre and any subsequent litigation that a blow out might attract.

Robbie.
