I am relatively new to 'top off' vehicles so this may be just a natural consequence of driving with the top down, but:

Is there anyway to stop the seatbelt slapping against your shoulder when you are doing 50mph+ ?

Maybe slapping is an exaggeration. As the wind catches it, it's like having someone tapping rapidly on your shoulder. For short distances i don't notice it too much. For long distances it's agony on the shoulder. The only thing I can thing to do is to get padding for that part of the seatbelt to minimise the effects of the rapid movement, caused by the passing air-movement.

Would increasing the seatbelt tension work do you think? :?

Will certainly try the windstop ( since everyone I have given a lift to hates sitting in the back, my car is going to be - to all intents and purposes - a two seater, so I can now accommodate a windstop...not sure I like the 'windows up' option, although I think since I have to drive 130 miles tomorrow i'll see what happens with the windows up....Good time to experiment a tad.

cheers for the advice - will let you know the results tomorrow.

Pauline has a great answer to this problem!
While she was on hols she found some peugeot seat belt thingies (not the technical phrase) which are padded and held on with velcro that sit on your shoulder (what boy racers usually have!)
But Paulines are Peugeot ones and look cool but I know they weren't from this country!!!

rayjer than look like a girl racer as julia suggested go to any good car accessory shop and get the seat belt tension clip things, dunno what they are called but you set how loose you want the tension of the seat belt with a clip then when you get out you tug on the seat belt to realise it, and this also realises if you make an emergency stop. only cost a few quid

Hi julia

the mere fact of you having to change your tyres after 8000 miles say it all really!!

A word of advice on windstops - only spend your hard earned cash on one if you don't have the seat too far back. I know from experience, I'm 5'11'' (not exactly tall) and have to drive with my knees round my ears when I've got my windstop fitted. You would have thought Peugeot would have designed a windstop that would suit any driven position (well, almost any position!).

Here in Holland we have thingies you can put around the belt. It's made of soft material, so the 'slamming' may continue but it won't hurt as much :)

A little warning: the retraction of the belt goes not well with such a thingie attached, so be aware not to get your waistbelt between the door.

Erwin, this sounds just like the thingy I bought in Spain. They're like a big padded sock with velcro so you just wrap them around the strap. But I quickly got used to the belt not retracting fully...

I can knock some samples up for you Lady if you're interested! But my embroidery of the logo might leave a bit to be desired

They work fantastically, as does the windstop. But when going at speed with the windows down, my super-duper-Peugeot socks do the trick :)

If anyone's interested, I can ask my mate in Spain if she can get some? In exchange for a packet of Lemon Bonbons and tub of marmite! Plus about 8 euros plus postage I guess. Or we can get them on our December booze cruise (ooops, I nearly said the C word there - ends in hristmas). Now there's an idea
