After 14 months of just dreaming of having a CC - I DROVE ONE!

Here in Oz we're still waiting for the first delivered vehicles, but dealers at least now have demo's available. My dealer had a black 1.6 Auto (back looked awesome, but I'm going to stick with my initial choice of Agaean Blue)- not an auto fan and I expected the 1.6 to be sluggish - but wow it surprised me! Aside from the powerplant, I was very impressed with the "road feel", it really stuck to the road and felt as solid as a rock. I drive a 306 Cab and I have to say there's much less wind turbulence, most likely due to the very clever angle of the windscreen.

The first "cars for sale" shipment is supposedly to arrive by ship between Dec 26-29, so I'm hopeful of getting mine some time in Jan. We don't have the build date system here (on the way I am told), so my faith is in the hands of my dealer - no risk there, he's brilliant (anyone in Oz reading this, you couldn't o better than dealing with Mark Drake at Straightway Mentone).

So here I sit, remembering the hour I had with the CC and agonising about finally getting one in my hands that I don't have to give back. I took a few pic's to capture the moment (Lydon, is there a place on your site to how pic's of aspiring CC owners? If so drop me an e-mail and I'll send a couple through to you.

I envy all of you who experience daily what I did on Saturday. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Cheers

Glad you like the pictures Lyndon buying a didgital camera was one of the best things I've done lately, and yes that's my partner. Will pass on your compliment. As for age, I'm an old bugger just turned 39! Let me know when you've posted the pictures and where I can find them.

Heu Frosty ordered an automatic CC and was wondering how it shifted? Is it quick enough?
Smooth?

Thanks!

Pieter, I was impressed with the 1.6 Auto. I'm not a fan of auto's as I typically find them sluggish on the uptake. The CC was a pleasant surprise. There were two switches on the auto shift 1) a sports mode that really does improve the pickup and rev's high and 2) a mode for snow driving (don't really need that here in Australia!) which essentially starts the car off in 2nd gear to avoid wheel spin.

I found the shift to be smooth, although in non sports mode found it a little slow to pick up at start, but once underway performed beautifully.

I'm a manual fan and that won't change, but fair to say I wouldn't have any problem driving one. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with your CC when it arrives.

Now I just sit and patiently wait!

Cheers

Stephen,

I've got a Dealer Launch next Tuesday night. Although the cars are already on display at the dealership they are 'officially' launching the 206cc, 307 & 607 at an invitation-only affair.

Don't I feel important!

Should be good - I'll let you know if I get any more info on the 206cc.

Kirk.

make yourself a list of questions. That should rattle their cages a bit.

Look forward to hearing about it Kirk. Let us all know how it goes. Also agree with the suggestion that you go armed with some direct questions. I'd like to get some resolution on things like the spec applicable to Oz delivery, options that will be offered, projected availability, etc

Cheers
