Ok I'll start by saying that I dont have a CC, the roof on my 206 is pretty much welded shut. :)
A quick question: I am assuming that the stereos are the same, I have the bog standard CD player which is supposed to have this auto volume feature. Problem is that I dont know if it is working but only raising the volume very slightly or whether it is infact broken. Can anyone tell me if it does work and whether it has a noticable increase or if it is only very slightly.

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

I never really notice what the auto-volume does. I guess it's not very much. :(

There was another post about this (but i cant be bothered to find it  )
but the general feeling was that it doesnt actually do anything (it certainly doesnt on mine!), although one owner claimed it made his quieter!

Thanks both of you, I had to question it because I have already had the head unit replaced twice, [couldn't get AM and TA was always on evern when switched off!] I have also had the main computer replaced/reset 6 times because of countless faults!

Thanks again!

Phil.

i don´t know if the auto volume feature works different on different brand names, on my cc, i am guessing, the auto volume works when you turn it on and if you didn´t lower the volume it will make a fade in from nothing to the volume you had before with no jumps of levels, but on my father´s car, you have the same volume regardless the speed you are going, i mean, the volumen raises or lowers by itself depending on the acceleration.
:D
Why are u reading this???

right... I ACTUALLY read the manual coming with the car... it states " when the auto volume is on, the volume of the radio/cd will increase/decrease when going faster/slower to match the noise in the car"

Now for the practicality of the thing, it doesnt do mych on my CC

i was initially under the impression that it didn't make any difference, but paying more attention to it over the past 2 months when i have had the roof down - it definitely works.

Works sweet as a nut on mine!
Seems to up the volume more noticably when the engine is at around 3 1/2 - 4 thousand RPM.

Easy test to see if it's working... turn it on... drive down the motorway, and when you're going reasonably fast, go into the stereo menu and turn it off. I can hear a noticable drop in volume.
You can also notice it when you have been going fast, and then pull off the motorway and have to stop at traffic lights (on the sliproad)... the volume drops off as you decelerate

I took my CC in for its 1st service and told them that the auto volume wasn't working. When I collected the car, they said that they had contacted Peugeot themselves and that the volume difference is very slight and may not be noticeable.

As others have said, I still have to turn the volumne up and down when speeding up and slowing down, especially with the top down.

I had to double check that I had the auto-volume turned on cos I cannot see a difference when I go faster - i just turn the stereo up manually. Not sure it works atall

oki, is it suppose to match the volume over the noise so that the volume stay relatively same from our ear point of view therefore you not suppose to notice it getting louder or softer.... hows that for a thought  i dont notice anything different on mine either
