Roughly ow much will my first service be - and does it vary by dealer? I thought we could get a national survey going

With my old Renault, the small dealer round the corner from me were at least 50% cheaper than Caledonian (eg 60k service locally £98, Caledonian £175)! I thought prices would be standard, but they obviously charge what they think they can get away with.

Thanks. Pauline

Hi Pauline,

The first service (6000 miles) is done for free  good job to coz they don't do a lot, just check fluid levels under the bonnet, lights etc etc and thats about it.

Probably the next service will be expensive !!!

Cheers

Shop around for 20k mile service costs in your area. I know they always vary e.g. for my last 206 1.4LX my dealer in edinburgh wanted over £100, but the dealer 20 miles away which is 2 miles from my house was only £67.

I don't know if the CC service is more expensive or not, but the same variations will apply.

I used to do that with renault dealers. Managed to half the cost by getting them to beat each others price.

doesn't always work Rob. the dealer i bought my 306 from in 1998 was also more expensive and refused to match the price of my local dealer (which i have never bought a car from)even although it was the 3rd car i had bought from them - result, no more cars from them !
