I think the easiest way to tell is the button in front of the display. If it is split in two hasards and emergency lock then it's a 2002 model whcih means mulitplex.....

When would 2002 spec/Multiplex models have started being delivered through UK dealers? Anyone know?
Ours was a cancelled order and Warwick Wright Brent Cross charged us on the basis of the current list at beginning of October 2001 ie £14695 for a 1.6S, (was previously £14480). Were we diddled?

Probably if its a multiplex the easiest way is to press the horn! In all multiplex models the horn and generally all the functions in car has a small delay after you press their buttons (some milliseconds). Know if you want it for shure then almost in every place that cables are passed with all the cables usually you will see the presence of two to four or six thin orange cables. This is the CAN BUS system of the multiplex technology. Mine is multiplex too but hasn't any 'auto' lights...
Seems like you've been had, your car sounds exactly the same as mine. also purchased in Oct 01. It's extremely likely you have the one of the last of the non multiplex machines. I was also thinking about cancelling my order and getting the new spec, but couldn't be a***d to wait any longer. And the multiplex cars have a new set of faults, which are highlighted in the problems section, so maybe it wasn't such a bad decision after all

For sale- 17" Miglia Alloys. pm me if your interested
My 1.6s Manual was delivered to my dealership on 8th November 2001 and it is the multiplexed model. I didn't pay any extra as salesman didn't realise it was new spec until he handed the car over to me.
my 1st CC delivered on 6/12/01 (died 20/2/02) is multiplex model but didn't pay the higher price as it was ordered at end of july 01 when lower prices applied.

My recollection is that production year changes effective October, so vehicles built in and after October 2001 and 2002 year. Also note that you cannot necessarily tell from the split hazard button. Vehcles delivered to Australia all have single hazard button but are multiplexed, so seems to vary from market to market

Well, I press the horn and there comes no sound at all, so I must have the multiplex
