Yesterday my car didn't start and display says: immobiliser fault. This happens several times. I take key out and locked/delocked doors twise, start again and it starts. I went straight to dealer and asked what to do, they promise to check the car if it does it again.
Anyone else this kind of problem?
My car is now 1month old.

Hi - a fairly well known one I think. I have an 'old' CC and it's had the problem for over a year, until two weeks ago when my patience wore out (half an hour in the baking sun trying to get the car started!)

It's been in for investigation a couple of times, had the keys reprogrammed, still no joy. I've had the breakdown people out to it once or twice as I just couldn't get the thing started.

Now, they (a new garage) replaced the transponder aerial - and all is fine. This is a known problem according to the mechanic, not only on 206's. He was surprised that the first garage didn't just swapthe transponder out as that's what they do for any immobiliser problems.

Thank's for your help.
So far my car is working fine. If i got problem again i go straight to dealer to fix it. Now i can tell them exactly what's wrong with it, and how to fix it

I take car to the dealer next week. They phoned me, that they have new ignition lock and they change it. Does it contains transponder aerial ?
My car's last problem was in winter, but it's good that they do something to prevent those problems ;)

Anyone :?:
Does ignition lock include transponder aerial ??
Or is transponder unit separate part?

I believw that there's an aerial in the ignition lock - when you put the key in, the car talks to the key to make sure it's the correct one before the engine starts. If there's a fault in that aerial or the electronics in the lock then it won't start and the engine can cut out at the wrong time.

I've also heard it's a common problem although I haven't experienced it before.

So changing the ignition lock will fix the immobiliser fault ?
I'm going to dealer next week and don't want them to change the ignition lock if it doesn't help for that problem ;)

Got in my car this morning and it said "driver fault".

Garage wouldn't replace the faulty part :(

Haha, no that would say "alcohol fault" and automatically phone the police and have me arrested...
