Hi, Does anyone know if the new spec stereos have CD Changer control? If so does it have Aux in/ line in sockets for the Changer Audio. Can you use the CD changer source even with no changer installed?

I want to install an MStation which has a line out, I'm hoping to utilize the existing stereo by using the cd changer line in, can it be fooled into thinking that a changer is installed?

I highly doubt that you will get a Line/In socket with the new spec.

I think that the steering wheel stalk has 6 functions.

Hi,

I had a couple of bits done to the car, and whilst it was being done, asked to have a cable fitted to the stereo so I could run my portable minidisc player through the car system. I was told it was impossible with the stereo which peugeot fit.

I'm not a techie, but i guess that means there's no line in.

Hope that helps,

Josh

You could get one of those FM transmitter things - then all you have to do is tune your radio to your portable cd/minidisk/mp3 player... That is what I do in my current car, and plan to do the same in my CC when it arrives

Yeah, but I though that if there was an input say for the CD changer which I'm sure there must be I thought I could steal that, fool it in to thinking it had a cd changer and use it like that..... guess I'll just have to change the headunit......doh!

if there isnt a line in how do you conect the cd- changer then???
things are getting a bit complicate if you have to go to a peugeot dealer to fit it. The next, i guess, is that they want fit a changer that they dont sell themselves... then they have the full controll......
ough.. I hate the tought of it!!! Hope you can tell me that this is not how it works.

ours is the new spec 2.0se and the stereo does have the function to connect to a multi changer as it has a button to select it as an input source as it does for the single disc and the tuner, so it must be a line in because how else would they connect a multi changer to this stereo??

Hi,
I've tried selecting the multi cd source and nothing happens.Apparently there is also a problem at the moment getting a multichanger to work with the new multiplex wiring.I contacted the Peugeot helpline and they say they are "working on the problem".Sadly the manual supplied with the new spec cars is the one for the older version (well mine was anyway)and there is no reference to the new head unit.

I don't think that you can use the input for the cd changer for you LineIn. The reason being this isn't an ordinary socket, you must remember that it is intended to control the CD Changer and therefore send additional signals via the socket. You also might find that the socket isn't a standard socket rather more of a custom fit version which most manufacturer have their own designs.

Usually, you have a control cable, and a separate pair of phonos for the audio, otherwise you would get noise down the audio channels if it was all in the same cable.

what a great solution!

why didn't i think of that...

after paying £14500 cash for a new car, i don't fancy paying out another £400 for a stereo if the one thats in their will do the job....
