STILL GOING! I've been out of the country for weeks and I come back to the same topic

Alright GTB5 I'll give credit where it's due; you DO have a case and you're a obviously more patient than I. I would have been round to 'chat' about the merits of the situation weeks ago. (I know your in Hong Kong! so that's unlikley).

But reading this chain of e-mails I would say you've pretty comprehensively ruined his business.

So lets get this straight.

Jimmy chose the courier for his lights to be sent with, not insured? So they were lost in the post - surely simon's responsibility ends there?

bit of clarifying is needed i think.

From what i know

1. Simon shouldn't have accepted an overseas order without insurance (but he did)

2. Simon then offered a replacement, refund, free grills.

which Jimmy hasn't recieved, doesn't matter how many satisfied customers you have, but stuff up one order and you'll be in deep trouble. (putting it politely)

But i thought jimmy was offered insured delivery but he turned it down cos it cost more?

After all this time Pug sport and Rob S (from the Pug Sport forum) have finally entered into the propaganda war on this site.

Well Rob S we all think gtb5 has got a pretty good case and if your friends with Simon maybe you should give him a nudge.

i don't know him personnally but have spoken to him a few times via private messages. Regarding queries of things i want to buy or how to fit things i've brought (if even not from him) and he has been very helpful.

Don't get me wrong - i would be going nuts too if i was 200quid out of pocket. But there are ways to go about sorting this out and his childish posting on the pugsport forums is disgraceful. I just feel some people don't know the full story and have jumped on the bandwagon somewhat...

I know lots of people that have met him, used his services and come away with a far greater than expected service.

just my opinion, i think it's fair to put the other point of view across.

I think that this has been going on for a very long time. When it all starte don this forum, people were unaware of all of the details. Over time the facts have come out.

Anyone can have prolems, but the thing to do is to admit to them. I have had dealings with Simon and he seemed to REPEATEDLY lose stuff in the post when he was sending it to me in the UK. Is he just the unluckiest person in the UK when it comes to mailing things ?????

Simon needs to make a public statement. We would all I am sure admire him if he did this.

If in deed he has gone bankrupt then poor old GTB5 has lost his money, but he should come clean and tell the whole story.

last time i spoke to simon was about a week ago via pm on another board. But do know of someone that is about to be having a engine conversion done at pugsport so i'm fairly sure he ain't gone bankrupt!

I think parcel force was the courier? and even in the business i work for things get lost quite frequently - gesture of kindness simon offered the lights etc... out of his pocket?

i think some abuse should surely be headed towards the courier?

Its all very well Simon OFFERING the replacement items (out of his own pocket) but when they don't materialize as well you do wonder what the score is. And his silence on this subject (not only on the various forums, but to Jimmy personally) is either the sign of a man who won't lower himself to such depths, or a man with something to hide.
I'm kind of sitting on the fence on this one really and just playing 'devils advocate' because i'm interested to see how it eventually gets resolved. It may be a controversial opinion, but i wouldn't hesitate to use Simons company if/when i need work doing. But that is because when i move back to the UK i will be living in that area. Personally i wouldn't use him for mail-order because, as we can see, this doesn't appear to be a one-off incident.
Right, i'm gonna go and have a look at Simons website and see what all the fuss is about...

Here below is probably the best summary of it posted by Dale over on pugsport.
Surely there are few facts that count,

A, Insured carriage was advised and offered.

It was refused on grounds of cost.(customers perogative)

B, Goods were lost en route, Who is responsible for that, retailer or courier??, not too difficult to work out.

C, Retailer(wrongly in my opinion) makes goodwill gesture, for whatever reason does not follow up on offer. (poss slanderous remarks and abuse?,second thoughts on generosity?, I don't know).

Biggest mistake was offer of goodwill.

Recap
Customer pays for Item, retailer despatches item (against his advice)in manner of customers request.
Goods get lost in transit,

How do you honestly fault the retailer in that.
What loss should he fairly be expected to shoulder for carrying out his customers wishes to the letter.
