Just been reading elsewhere on the site about lack of spare tyre/wheel!

Is this true? - is there no spare on the CC? Surely not! What happens when you get a flat?!

Let me know

Thanks

As an aspirant CC owner, and having read the forum for moths the answer is you get a couple of aerosol cans of tyre fixer. Others will give advice on this but bottom line is no real spare tyre.

The CC is the best of both worlds, and as they say, no gain without some pain. Don't be put off - embrace the difference! I'm handing out for the now 2 week clock to count down to getting my CC

By the way, the "moths" are very happy with all I've told them. As for me, I've been waiting months!

Afraid this is true, you don't get a spare  and you do get get tyre weld to try and patch up hole and provide emergency repair to get you to garage. Unfortunately the tyre weld also destroys the tyre which will have to be replaced
however we still love the CC

WRONG

the trye weld does not destroy the tyres. I contacted teh AA technical department and they said it is safe to use. The suggested that some garages will tell you it ruins the tyre as they want to sell you another.

But I am just lazzy. I have a couple of spare alloys with tyres on. If I have a flat the AA can take me home on a trailer and then swap my wheel for me.

Is there room in the boot (even when the roofs down and folded away) for a basic spare?

you can with the roof down get a full sized alloy in the boot.

Not much room for anything else. but hey ist that what the back seats are for.

CC owners are not alone in lack of spare tyre any more!
I've heard that VW will provide Lupo or new Polo with cans as well!!

Stephen,

I bought the space saver spare as an option when I got my cc (15" as I have a 1.6) and I just leave it in the boot permanently. It doesn't take up too much space, I managed to do all my Christmas shopping without having to take it out ;)

From memory, I think it cost around £40 (in October 2001) including the special tyre.

Hope this helps,
Justin.

I'm with Steve on this.

Unless you need the maximum luggage spage (and did you buy the car for its luggage space) all the time, simply get a skinny spare and leave it in the boot. No worries.

When you say get a spare and put it in the boot. What is underneath the carpet of the boot?????? There must be a jack and stuff under threre. Is there any room to put a spare under threre????? Aint received my CC so I wouldn't know :0)

the jack, tyre weld etc.. is in the boot. i hate so say it, but it's obvious there is no room under the boot carpet for a spare wheel or it would be there in the first place. the reason there isn't one is because there isn't room in the design of the car, not to take £40 off the price.
