Kicking feel when releasing the clutch

Post by MartinMax »

My 206cc 2.0 feels like a kick in the engine bay on releasing the clutch in 2nd and 3rd gear.
It does not happen if I release the clutch very slowly.

Could this be an engine mount issue?

Thanks,

will schedule a checkup of the engine mounts, hope it will not be a costly replace.

Update (some help needed):
So after checking up the car at the local dealer, turned out that the kick feel is related to a spacing in the differential. The service also did spot a defect in the clutch (fake clutch was installed) but after changing the clutch the kicking is still there (clutch assembly works just fine now).

The engine mounts were also checked and there is no defect there (and I was hoping to fix it with a 50EUR mount).

Has anyone had an experience like this?

Can you describe the "kicking" a bit more fully? Noises? Misfire? Steering?

Hi,
the kick sound and feel happens when I release the clutch, If I release it very gently it can not be felt, but the more abruptly that I release it, the stronger the kick. also it is stronger in 2-nd and 3-rd gear less in 4-th/5-th.
There is no misfire, no other noises. the kick can not be felt on the steering wheel.

Today the service proposed to have the gear box checked in detail because they are suspecting something could be loose there. I'm starting to worry that it might become an expensive repair. I'll probably let the service check and open up the gearbox if anything else does not pop-up.

Also, the engine mounts were checked and there is no slack/play there.

Please let us know what they find. Broken teeth on crown wheel & pinion maybe??
Cheers Col.

So, it turned out to be partially a fault in the engine mounts, but this was concluded after removing them, as the tear on the main mount was hard to notice without removing it. We decided to postpone the gearbox checkup for warmer weather as the kicking is les noticeable now with the new mounts.

I will update the post with additional info when possible...
