replacing cig lighter?

Post by BrianP »

Hi, needing the cig lighter socket for charging and for my sat nav...

It seems to be US.

I checked the fuse and it seems to be on the same circuit as the glove box light, which works ok.

How do I replace the cig lighter please? is it a case of prising the cig lighter upwards and revealing connectors or do I need to remove the casing around the gear stick etc?

Cheers for any help!

It is just clipped in so should prise out, but this is not always the case.
Cheers Col.

It would prise out, I agree, but the strong likelihood is you'd mark or crack the console doing this as the 'tangs' on the back of the socket that hold them in tend to be pretty robust.

If you're going to pull it the best thing to do really is lift the console and get on the back of the thing to squeeze the lugs and push it through.

Are you certain it's not just a simple fuse issue?
