New clutch roland garros 206cc 2002 1.6 16V LHD

Post by Bart.Wante »

Dear 206cc friends

My clutch is almost dead. It makes a squeezing noise when i release my clutch. When I push the clutch the sound is gone. So I think I need to replace my clutch. I will buy a whole new set. But there are 2 types for my model. What is the difference between these models? I have a peugeot 206cc 1.6 16V manual transmission left hand drive/steeringwheel left (I live in Belgium) year of build 2002 (TU5JP4). I think Sachs' clutches are good?
Can you help me? Thanks!
Kind regards!

1. Sachs 3000 951 279 (more expensive)
2. Sachs 3000 950 020

Assuming the clutches you list are not interchangeable, we need the last eight digits of your VIN (the VIS) to find out which Peugeot part number you need. The year of manufacture is not enough, it depends on the precise build date and the factory, which one gets from the VIS.

You can then look up the equivalent Sachs part for your car.

However, are you sure you need to replace the clutch? If it is working ok, but just making a noise, could the problem be with the control cable, or the pedal pivot - perhaps it needs lubrication?

Dear IanL

I will give a more detailed explanation. When the car is cold in the morning (5°C outside) the sound is bad and sharp when my engine is hot, the sound is better but not gone. When I drove home (20°C) the sound was almost gone... when I kick in the Clutch when it's cold the sound is also almost gone. When it's cold the shifting is also more difficult. The sound is certainly comming from the clutch/gear box compartment. What do you think?
My VIN is: /
Where can I search which carparts I need?
I found this. I think the 3000 951 279 is an old type, they don't manufacture it no more.

Thanks for helping
Kind regards Bart W.

It sounds to me like it could be the clutch release bearing. However, if you are doing (or paying for) the work to replace that, you may as well fit a complete new clutch.

The clutch kit for your car is Peugeot 2050 R3. If you search for that in EBay, you will get many offers.

Watch the quality on fleabay ... some are not originals but in good copy boxes.

Valeo are usually ok.

Thanks for the help!
I ordered the Valeo 826211 on autodoc.
I will keep you up to date about my fix. It's the first time I will change a clutch set. Do you have hints? Is it difficult to get the clutch off the car?

I don't know, I'm afraid. My car has the automatic gearbox.

Got a garage to do my daughter's as I couldn't find the time ...

Driveshafts will no doubt be a pain to remove esp hub nuts.
