OK guys been trawling this forum for the last 4 hours, went to open my roof today after a few weeks dormant and I'm just getting the warning tone, I have checked the boot shelf is pulled out that's fine, as I unclipped the roof catches I'm not getting the beep. I just get the long warning beep whenever I press the roof button, no motor starts etc, I have tried with Windows down, Windows up, handbrake on engine running, I've pulled out the 2 white pins in boot and replaced still nothing, I've had my finger in the roof catches and passenger side and that clicks like a switch but the drivers side is a bit tough to move, now I know this sounds like a microswitch problem and have found them online £15 each was thinking of changing both to be safe, how difficult is it to remove and replace??? The ones I've found are the microswitch with catches? Couldn't find any microswitches alone, I'd really love any advice or instructions as my loyal friend utube has let me down and I can't find any videos on replacement, really can't afford garage prices,
Yours faithfully

Before changing the switch, try a squirt of switch-cleaning fluid and opening and closing a few times - it might just be a bit of dirt. You want something like this, NOT WD40.

Hi
This may help
most likely its a fault with the pulled screen switch or the boot . This is what i would do .(even though i have access to the software.
1. i would disconnect the battery, locate the plug and socket to the boot switch( use a meter across each pair i.e 1,2 and 3,4 .With boot open i would use my finger and push down on the lever that goes in when boot closed ) with meter connected it releases the micro switch so you should see switches go open and short. What can happen is people slam the boot and dislodge THE BRACKET
A similar check with the PULLED SCREEN MICRO SWITCH
P.S DO NOT FORGET TO RECONNECT plug and sockets.
A tip is to check all micro switches before attempting any repair as it will just come back or introduce other faults.
IF all is ok i would think of looking at the loom on the near side boot arm .
Its better to find someone near to you with the software , that way you will be able to look in the right area. Not all Micros used in roof opening are the same and some have a resistance . Never poke about with battery connected you could blow the control unit.
Finally if there is a fault your roof switches will not bleep when you open the second roof switch if i remember IanL could be right but would recommend finding fault first because the more you understand about the roof the happier you be .its not nice if the roofs down and its about to rain , i always carry a meter in the car because the car is old i do not have the trust in it working every time even though it does seem to only give trouble at the beginning of the summer season . I hope this has helped. I am an electronic engineer and it took me a while to get my head round the roof electronics.
have fun Morris

Just to add that the 206 electronics is very sensitive to the way the battery is disconnected and reconnected. To avoid the BSI software getting scrambled, always do it this way.
Not getting the beep is the classic symptom for roof catch switch.
