beeping when i drive stops when i stop

My newly aquired peugeot 206cc beeps when i drive but stops when i stop, i am being driven mad by this beep beep beeping and cant work out what it could be, I wonder if its seatbelt chimes faulty, if this is the case, how do you change the sensors on seatbelt ? anyone have same issue or had and is now fixed please help before i go mad by beeping tourture

My first thought is that it is connected with the roof. Does the roof open and close? If so, does it beep if you drive with the roof open.

If it does not beep with the roof open, that will confirm that something is not happening when it should. I seem to remember something connected with the boot lid catches. See this post

EDIT: Come to think of it, if the problem is the boot lid latching, it may cause beeps with the roof open as well. But it would be worth cycling the roof to see if it affects the issue.

no roof does not open, so how would i fix this if this is the issue ?

The beeping is probably caused by the roof system believing that the roof is not properly closed. There are a number of microswitches involved in that, all of which would need to be checked.

Read the first nine topics here for more insight into the issue. There may be more than one problem with the roof system. It is possible to open and close the roof by hand to get access to the switches.

There is a computer-based diagnostic tool, Peugeot Planet 2000, which may give some useful information. This search will point you to lots of information about that.

I think you could probably prove that the roof system was the source of the beeps by removing the roof ECU. Unfortunately, it would not be a cure, because the windows would no longer work. The only cure would be to rectify the problem within the roof system.

If you need professional help, the best source is here. Most Peugeot dealers do not have the expertise.

Also check the connectors in the loom. Esp the ones in the boot by the left hinge. Gets pulled out easily and triggers that bleep over 5 mph.

I had the same thing it was boot latch, put a piece of tissue in switch , problems solved no beeps, until yesterday, stated the odd beep, checked the tissue, OK, then the speedo went from 70 to 0 on the motorway, carried on for a bit then everything died, had to pull over and get recovered off motorway, still don't know what it is, its in garage ATM . When I turned on ignition nothing happened apart from wipers moving without being on, no locking etc, horrible feeling about this !!! Will report later.

Could be as simple as a defective switch contact in the ignition switch barrel.
