Hi all just thought i would introduce myself. I purchased a 2.0 litre 206 cc last weekend so im one of you guys now :)

Just wondering as its my first time owning one of these cars if anyone wants to put some advice my way with regards to the electric roof to pro long the life span. Routine checks maintenance etc.

Look forward to talking to you all

Welcome!

Do's and Dont's:

Always run the engine when opening/closing.
Wait for the bong before closing the latches when closing the roof (My car doesn't always bong, so I give it a few seconds after the last movement). I had a passenger who closed the latch after the roof was down, but before the boot lid shut, and the cycle stopped and would not restart. Luckily, it accepted the order to re-open.

Never interrupt the cycle (i.e. keep the switch over until the cycle is complete) if you can help it. Obviously if it's a safety matter, you have no choice.

All these things minimise the possibility that the roof ends up in an indeterminate state that the ECU decides represents a fault, so it refuses to play ball.

I have taken an oilcan to the pivoting parts of the linkages, on the theory that, sparingly applied, it will do good.

.. use the roof regularly!

If you have to replace the front lower suspension arms, make sure they are the CC/GTI ones with the metal bushes or they last less time than a chocolate teapot!!
