Thinking about buying planet 2000..
Is it easy to use? Can anyone recommend a good seller?

I bought mine on EBay. Search on "Lexia 3". The real McCoy costs a bomb, but the Far East copies are ok. You pay more if it says "full chip" - I think that is important on later cars, but don't quote me.

You need to run it under a 32-bit Windows OS, preferably XP SP3. If you have a 64-bit laptop, install a free VMWare Player and then install XP in that (you will need the key).

Most things are fairly straightforward with any sort of diagnostics, unfortunately there is also an element of knowing how to interpret the results.
For instance, a mate of mine was having trouble with his daughters car yesterday and rang me for advice. He had code read it, and deduced the throttle pedal was faulty.
I said the symptoms you have are unlikely to be the pedal and told him how to test it. He decided to replace the electronic pedal anyway without testing.
£120 later he calls me because it is still doing the same thing so I went over to take a look with him. Fault was actually a blocked Catalyst which didn't throw up any codes.
Cheers Col.

When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.

Thx,
So the cheaper one at around £43.00 will be more than adequate for an 05 plate?

It seems to be for my 05. I paid about £50. If you don't want to wait a long time for it, it may be an idea to choose a supplier who dispatches from the UK. It's also easier to return if there's a problem.
