abs sensor spin test and cleaning

Post by puzzledbloke »

Hi all
My daughter's 2002 1.6 manual car has abs light on at ignition on and displays 'abs fault' after a bit without moving.
Brake warning indicator also lit handbrake off.

On these, can I use the handbrake on a notch, jack up wheel and spin while listening for beep test please?

I,m also wondering if dirty or misgapped sensors can be detected by the system before the car moves please?

And if there are any multimeter tests please? Mot is out and we are a long way from nearest forum member with planet

Thanks very much for any advice, much appreciated

Sensor probably gone open circuit. Get a good pro scanner or PP2000 on it and it will tell you for sure. I have had a couple of pump failures on these too, so don't just assume it's a wheel sensor/
Cheers Col.

Thanks very much for that. I know a scanner would be by far the best way to go, wish I'd bought one before. Will try and find one locally. I was just hoping i might get lucky with an easy sensor check. All good fun! Thanks again, such appreciated.
