206 cc 2 litre petrol keeps snapping aux belts
I purchased a 206 cc last month no warranty given or implied. Needed a few things doing but nothing major and one of these was the fan belt (6pk1725) i could see the edges were worn down a lot and also it had jumped a rib. Took it to the garage to get it done and also they needed to replace the tensioner pulley as it was basically falling apart. for some reason they also had to remove the crank pulley on bottom end possibly for better access. Anyway job completed got home then went to go to supermarket and the belt snapped on startup. took it back to garage next day and exactly same thing happened. Now ordered fan belt number 3 but reluctant to use same mechanic. Any thoughts?

Assuming it's been routed correctly, and the correct belt for your car, I would check all moving parts to do with the belt- tensioners, idlers, alternator etc: Then check it's not rubbing on anything.
Cheers Col.

thanks for prompt reply Capncol . Green flag had a quick look and said the bottom crank pulley is wobbling slightly and also upon inspection one rib of the aux belt has ripped off completely and looking at the very top pulley it has jumped a rib.

If garage then you do have cover
I would be looking at everything the belt runs over to ensure that bearings and pulleys are all in good condition. Making sure that there are no sharp edges and spinning freely.

If the crank pulley is wobbling , that will pull the belt out of line.
Look at that first!
