Hello guys,
If my 2005 206cc 1.6 16V is an AL4 automatic, can I use the ECU of the similar engine but with manual transmission?
Do I need to get from the second hand car specifically the ECU, BSI, FOB and key sensor on the ignition switch all together to work? Or do I need something more?

I have checked in Service Box. There are many different ECUs (called injection calculator) for "BVM" and for "BVA". The BVA entries are two, and they list eight and six different ECUs respectively. You would still have to distinguish which was compatible and which was not. I would say they only way to be sure is to get one with the same manufacturers number on it.
The key sensor would not need to be changed (unless it were defective), as it is not "matched" to the other components.
You would need PP 2000, to configure the replaced ECU and BSI.

I thought it was just easy as replacement of the set. Where can i find the manufacturers number on the ECU, as the paper label sticker is already faded.

Sorry, I don't know. If you want to post the last eight digits of your VIN, I can look up the Peugeot Part No for your ECU - maybe that will help.

#44108644. So, I can't just buy an ecu set from ebay or from someone that scraps a cc? ..even with the same engine?

Re: Replacing 206cc ECU, BSI FOB
There are a large number of variants of the engine used in the 206. The differences are mainly connected with improvements to consumption and/or emissions. These involve alterations to the ECU firmware and possibly interface hardware as well. Use of the wrong ECU would have unpredictable consequences. The variant you have is "EEC 2000 Depoll" and the injection system manufacturer is Bosch (implication - some are made by a different manufacturer and may be incompatible with other parts from a different manufacturer).
The ECU for your vehicle is either:
1940 V3 (Bosch ME744)
1940 RZ (Bosch ME745)
There are possible wiring differences between the two, as they are separately dealt with in the wiring database (SEDRE), but the build record does not state which was fitted. For that reason, you should get whichever the original part is. You may find the ME number inside the case, if it is not shown on the outside.
If you cannot identify the set, you could try getting one from a 206cc of the same year. When it arrives, you can look for ME number, perhaps inside the case. But if it is different to yours, I would send it back.
EDIT: This one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-206-1 ... Sw65FXtCyq shows it is ME744.

I have checked with a 2001 auto hatchback and a 2004 manual CC (with the same engine as yours) for which I have the VINs, and they have the same ECUs listed as for your car. I think it is a fairly safe bet that the year and the transmission are not critical, but the engine is. Yours is a TU5JP4.

Re: Replacing 206cc ECU, BSI FOB
Yes correct, my 2005 206cc has a 1.6 16v TU5JP4 engine and Al4 transmission. So, maybe it is safe to say that I can buy an ECU from a 2004 or 2005 ECU with the same engine but manual transmission.
Or even from a manual transmission but same engine and year?

Sorry, so whatever the year or type of transmission as long as same engine as TU5JP4, they will have compatible interchangeable ECUs?
So if no problem with the existing FOB, I just need the matched BSI and ECU as a pair to function?

Re: Replacing 206cc ECU, BSI FOB
Can't say for certain, but it seems that way for late 2001 to 2005. Earlier or later than that bracket is uncertain. I still think you should get the same ME number.Piyas wrote:Sorry, so whatever the year or type of transmission as long as same engine as TU5JP4, they will have compatible interchangeable ECUs?
No, the existing fob will be useless with a new ECU and BSI. Used fobs cannot be re-programmed. You need to get the fob as well as the ECU and BSI, or buy a new fob and have it programmed. You can swap the key blade from the old fob to the new fob.So if no problem with the existing FOB, I just need the matched BSI and ECU as a pair to function?

So, I need a set that should include the ECU, BSI and FOB, nothing else? How about the Key sensor?

so the sensor on the ignition keyhole for the FOB accepts any 206 cc chip?

Re: Replacing 206cc ECU, BSI FOB
The sensor is a simple RF antenna with no intelligence. The intelligence which controls the immobiliser lies in the ECU and the BSI.Piyas wrote:so the sensor on the ignition keyhole for the FOB accepts any 206 cc chip?
