Seeing as you have pp2k I would just unplug the seatbelt pretensioner and configure it absent so the light goes out just to get it through the mot then worry about it afterwards, you could open a can of worms in the next two days

Thats it then tape the multimeter leads to it and hide it under the seat or in the door card when it goes for mot lol, i had same thing with my airbags last mot got it all working perfect then as i drove in light came on and suddenly no horn either

It gets worse.Left the multimeter attached, light off, turned off ignition, turned it on again.Bl... light came on.
Don't understand pp2k comment,I thought it was a machine pistol.

Peugeot planet 2000=pp2k
Disconnect the seatbelt pretensioner and configure it absent in the software so that the car will ignore it then the light will go out and everything else will work as normal.
Btw you shouldnt really probe airbag connectors while the car is powered up you could trigger it then you will be in a world of sh!t.

I didn't realise there was little industry dedicated to bypassing pretensioners and not just Peugeot. If you Google pretensioner bypass resistor you get hundreds of hits.

If you look in your software you can do it already without having to buy or fit anything else and completely safe and best of all render the rest 100% working order.

Connected diagnostic gizmo and first tried to clear the faults I had created by disconnecting the plugs under the seats and soldering them.Faults refuse to clear. Does this mean that the internal memory of the ECU is shot?

Just for the record, the Walther PPK is a semi-automatic pistol (one round fired for every pull of the trigger).jeffluent wrote: Don't understand pp2k comment,I thought it was a machine pistol.
A machine pistol fires continuously whilst the trigger is pressed.

There are sundry faults.I was trying to clear them so that the one that reoccurred was the real one and not one generated by me messing about.Rang an airbag ecu specialist with the symptoms. He said it was the internal memory and that it could not be repaired.Found one by Breakers Yard for £20 so watch this space.
I know what a PPK is.A PP2K or PP2000 is a Russian machine pistol.

Try unplugging the air bag and deleting it first that will tell you if the ecu is faulty ill put money on it that the airbag is goosed

Looks as if you might be right.Put new ecu in and after clearing faults the one that came back was airbag on open circuit.

Re: Airbag light - Oh no here we go again
FOUND IT. The passenger airbag was on open circuit because the blue block connector (orange wire leads to the airbag) was not pushed in properly.I touched the connector and the fault disappeared which is when I realised it was not fully pushed in and has probably been like that since manufacture, unless of course a previous owner has been fiddling but I can't see why.
So,as has happened to me on a number of occasions, there were two faults, the ecu and the block connector.

Just sliding the seat back and forwards can dislodge them

OP said he had soldered the wires up so the plug wasnt part of the circuit anymore or am I reading it wrong?

Blue block connector. To clarify, this connector is under the steering wheel not far from the diagnostic socket. There is an orange lead from it which if you follow it with a torch and mirror goes to the passenger airbag.Sorry I didn't make the geography more clear. The soldering work I have done is to replace the plugs under the seats. The whole bl---y issue was complicated by the airbag ecu failing. Not uncommon I understand. Breakers Yard found me the correct replacement for £20.
So everything works with no resistors, bypasses or other malpractice which should please those that don't have the problem but pontificate about it.
