engine light comes on

I have a 206cc semi-auto (2006).

The engine light comes on when i start the car with one warning alarm. It is driving perfectly as far as i can tell.

I guess there could be a million and one reasons for the engine light to come on.

Do i need to take it to the garage for checking?

If any one can offer suggestions, would be very grateful.

It needs to be diagnosed with Peugeot Planet 2000. You can take it to a dealer, contact someone local who has the gear, or get your own.

As it's a 2006 model a standard EOBD compatible code reader might work but Peugeots are a bit sensitive and the codes returned may not be 100% accurate so PP2000 is the best. Remember also only PP2000 would understand those Pug specific codes and the BSI unit.
